2014 FIA World Endurance Champion Anthony Davidson will join DragonSpeed after the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the remainder of the 2018-19 WEC ‘Super Season’.
The former Toyota Gazoo Racing full-season driver was effectively replaced by Fernando Alonso in the team’s LMP1 lineup this season and is currently without a drive for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans and the season-opener at Spa in May.
The Brit will drive the No. 31 DragonSpeed Oreca 07 Gibson alongside Pastor Maldonado and Roberto Gonzalez starting at August’s Six Hours of Silverstone for the rest of the season.
He will also remain as Toyota Gazoo Racing reserve driver.
Nathanael Berthon was listed with Maldonado and Gonzalez on the Spa entry list and is expected to remain with the team for Le Mans.
In addition to its LMP2 Oreca, DragonSpeed will also make its LMP1 debut this year with a BR Engineering BR1 Gibson driven by Ben Hanley, Henrik Hedman and Renger van der Zande.
Pietro Fittipaldi will replace van der Zande at Spa and Fuji where the Dutchman’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship commitments take priority.
