Legendary British sports car driver Derek Bell will be the Grand Marshal for the 6 Hours of Silverstone, the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, which takes on April 20 at the home of British motorsport.
The five-time Le Mans winner, three-time Daytona 24 winner and double World Sports Car champion is regarded as one of the greatest sports car and endurance racing drivers of his era.
Most closely associated with the Porsche marque during his heyday at Le Mans, Bell is now a global Bentley Motors brand ambassador and a regular visitor to major automotive and motor sport events around the world.
As Grand Marshal, he will have among his duties the responsibility for the ceremonial start of the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
The race, which will mark the debut of the new Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car as well as the introduction of new hybrid systems for Audi and Toyota, will feature some of the world’s most beautiful and high performing automotive names including Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche in the closely competitive GTE categories.
