The No. 7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid hit trouble with less than two hours to go in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Kamui Kobayashi, which was running second overall at the time in a commanding 1-2 run for the manufacturer, suddenly slowed on-track, with an apparent fuel-related issue.
Kobayashi was informed to limp the car back at 80 km/h, on its Full Course Yellow speed limiter, prior to briefly running to full power on the entry into pit lane.
It appears the car had been low on fuel, with the team opting to take a slow in-lap.
The pair of Toyotas enjoy a 12-lap lead over the No. 3 Rebellion R13 Gibson, in what’s been a dominant race for the Japanese manufacturer.
It was the first issue either of the Toyotas had encountered all race.
