Porsche Penske Motorsport maintained its position atop the timesheets for the second consecutive Free Practice session ahead of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, with Kevin Estre leading a 1-2 for the German manufacturer.

Estre’s best effort of 1:23.508, set aboard the No. 6 Porsche 963 he shares with Laurens Vanthoor, was 0.104 seconds quicker than the sister car piloted by Julien Andlauer.

It was also significantly quicker than the 1:25.176 that Vanthoor posted to lead the opening Free Practice session earlier on Friday.

Also similarly to FP1, one of the Team WRT-run BMW M Hybrid V8s occupied third place, with Raffaele Marciello’s No. 15 car 0.110 seconds removed from Estre’s fastest time.

The No. 12 Cadillac V-Series R slotted into fourth place with Alex Lynn at the wheel, followed by Harry Tincknell in the No. 007 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The second BMW picked up sixth in the hands of Sheldon van der Linde, ahead of the No. 7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid driven by Kamui Kobayashi and the No. 009 Aston Martin in the hands of Alex Riberas.

The overall top ten was rounded out by the No. 38 Cadillac and No. 50 Ferrari 499P.

In LMGT3, home town hero Eduardo Barrichello prevented a second consecutive 1-2 for Akkodis ASP Team at the head of the class.

Barrichello, a Sao Paulo native, reeled off a 1:34.493 aboard the No. 10 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo to outpace the No. 78 Lexus RC F GT3 of Yuichi Nakayama by a mere 0.067 seconds.

The second Lexus, driven by Clemens Schmid, was third, ahead of the No. 59 United Autosports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and No. 81 TF Sport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

The third and final Free Practice session for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo is scheduled for Saturday at 10:10 a.m. local time (9:10 a.m. EST).
