Genesis Magma Racing has confirmed its driver combinations for its first season in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class next season.

The Hyundai-owned luxury brand firmed up its full driver roster for the 2026 WEC season last month with the addition of Mathieu Jaminet and Paul-Loup Chatin, who join Genesis from Porsche and Alpine respectively.

Jaminet and Chatin will share one of the two Genesis GMR-001s, the No. 19 car, together with Daniel Juncadella, while the sister car, which carries the No. 17, will be driven by Andre Lotterer, Pipo Derani and Mathys Jaubert.

However, it has not yet been clarified by the Korean brand whether all three drivers assigned to each car will compete in all eight rounds of the season, or whether two-driver crews could be used for selected races.

Genesis Magma Racing sporting director Gabriele Tarquini explained the rationale behind arranging the two driver crews in this way

“Once we had all our drivers for the 2026 season confirmed, deciding the line-ups for the two race cars became the most important decision for Cyril [Abiteboul, team principal], Justin [Taylor, chief engineer] and myself,” said Tarquini.

“We wanted the strongest balance of experience and youth in each line-up. So, for example, we have Andre and Pipo – our most experienced drivers – together with Mathys, who is our only driver who has never raced in the WEC before.

“In the other car we have a great mix of Hypercar and LMDh knowledge with Mathieu and Paul-Loup, and the endurance racing experience of Dani.

“We analyzed each driver’s performance in the tests but also listened to the feedback they gave – and how they gave it. We also evaluated which drivers communicated and worked best together outside of the car, which you get to see in the quieter moments during testing and visits to the workshop.

“Finally, we needed to find the best compromises in terms of drivers’ height and weight, which is important to speed up driver changes during a race and save vital seconds.”

Genesis Magma Racing’s most recent test took place late last month at Motorland Aragon in Spain, where two GMR-001s were up and running — with one car focusing on endurance running and the other on performance.
