Phil Hanson will leave Hertz Team JOTA to join AF Corse’s lineup for the No. 83 Ferrari 499P in the FIA World Endurance Championship next year.
Announced on Wednesday, the British driver will remain in the WEC’s Hypercar category for a second consecutive season, joining two as yet unnamed co-drivers behind the wheel of Ferrari’s satellite entry.
Hanson, 25, made his top class debut as part of JOTA’s two-car Porsche 963 effort this season, teaming up with Jenson Button and Oliver Rasmussen and recording a best finish of sixth overall last time out in Fuji.
At AF Corse, Hanson is expected to take up the seat vacated by Robert Shwartzman, who has been heavily linked to a move to Prema’s two-car NTT IndyCar Series effort next year.
Ferrari factory driver Yifei Ye is understood to remain part of the lineup for the No. 83 car for a second consecutive season, while Robert Kubica’s status with the team for next year remains unknown.
Hanson will get his first taste of the 499P during Sunday’s post-season rookie test.
