Lamborghini Announces Temerario GT3; Set for 2026 Debut

Lamborghini has revealed that its next-generation GT3 challenger will be called the Temerario GT3 and is set for a debut in 2026.

The new car is set to replace Lamborghini’s highly successful Huracan GT3 platform, which has been in use since 2015 and has received Evo updates twice throughout the course of its lifecycle.

Lamborghini’s acting motorsport boss Rouven Mohr revealed the first information about the car, as well as a teaser image, at the brand’s end-of-season World Finals event at Jerez.

Mohr stated that the car is set to commence track testing in the first months of next year ahead of a planned competition debut in 2026.

While no technical details were revealed on Saturday, the Temerario road car is known to be powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with hybrid components as part of the company’s shift to an all-electrified portfolio.

In order to comply with GT3 technical regulations, the hybrid element would have to be removed in a process similar to what was done with the likes of the Ferrari 296 GT3 and Acura/Honda NSX GT3.

As a successor to Lamborghini’s current GT3 offering, the Temerario will need to follow in the footsteps of one of the most successful GT3 cars of the last decade.

Since its introduction in 2015, the Huracan GT3 secured class victories in races like the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Motul Petit Le Mans.

Paul Miller Racing, meanwhile, completed a sweep of GTD drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2018, while GRT Grasser Racing and Orange 1 FFF Racing Team took the car to championship succes in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.

Additional success came last month, when Mirko Bortolotti took the brand’s first championship in DTM by winning the drivers’ title with SSR Performance.

The 2026 season is set to see a number of new and updated GT3 car hit the market, with both Lexus and Mercedes-AMG also set to introduce new cars.

Additionally, Ferrari revealed earlier this month that it plans to roll out an Evo package for the 296 GT3 in 2026 as well.
