Risi Competizione has signed Felipe Nasr to its 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 driver lineup and announced plans to contest the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Monza.
2018 IMSA DPi champion Nasr will team up with the previously confirmed Ryan Cullen and Mazda DPi driver Oliver Jarvis in the No. 82 Risi Competizione Oreca 07 Gibson.
The Houston-based team, which has claimed class victories in past Le Mans with Ferrari prototype and GT machinery, declared on Friday that the same trio will contest both the 24-hour race on August 21-22 and the preceding WEC round at Monza on July 18.
Ex-Formula 1 driver Nasr is set for his second Le Mans participation, having previously driven a Cetilar Villorba Corse Dallara P217 Gibson during his IMSA title-winning year.
Nasr currently drives for Action Express Racing in DPi, while his IMSA teammate Pipo Derani drove a Risi-entered Ferrari at Le Mans in 2019 alongside Jarvis and Jules Gounon.
Jarvis and Cullen teamed up at Le Mans last year sharing an Algarve Pro/G-Drive Racing LMP2 Oreca with 2015 overall winner Nick Tandy.
“Racing at Le Mans never gets old to me,” said Risi Competizione team owner Giuseppe Risi.
“We are pleased to add the Risi Competizione name to the LMP2 class history at Le Mans with this year’s effort with Ryan, Oliver and Felipe at the wheel.
“When the prospect to race the car at the 6 Hours of Monza WEC race became an option, we felt it was an excellent opportunity to have the drivers and crew all be able to work together and with the car before such a grueling race as Le Mans.”
Risi Competizione has not announced any other racing plans for 2021 beyond its two LMP2 appearances.
The team’s most recent race outing came in January when it finished fourth in the Rolex 24 at Daytona GT Le Mans class race with a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
