The No. 38 Hertz Team JOTA Cadillac V-Series.R has lost its front row start for Sunday’s 6 Hours of Sao Paulo.
The Sebastien Bourdauis-qualified entry has been handed a one-position grid penalty for the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship for “impeding” the No. 93 Peugeot 9X8 of Paul di Resta during a fast lap in the qualifying session.
A statement from the stewards read: “After reviewing the video evidence, the Stewards determined that at Turn 12, Car 93 was sufficiently impeded by Car 38 to constitute the offense of impeding.
“However, the Stewards concluded that the impeding was not the result of a deliberate action by Car 38.
“Nevertheless, the driver of Car 38 was in a position to move aside before the braking zone at Turn 12 and should have done so to allow Car 93 to pass.”
It has promoted the No. 5 Penske Porsche, qualified by Julien Andlauer, to a front row starting position, alongside pole-sitter Alex Lynn in the No. 12 Cadillac.
