Porsche has elected to revert to three-driver lineups for its pair of Hypercar entries in next month’s Circuit of The Americas round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

As indicated by the entry list published on Friday, Porsche Penske Motorsport’s designated third drivers Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet will return to their respective regular entries for the six-hour Lone Star Le Mans event on Sept. 7.

Jaminet will race alongside Michael Christensen and Julien Andlauer in the No. 5 Porsche 963, while Campbell joins Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor aboard the No. 6 car.

Porsche ran two-driver lineups for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, and is expected to do so again for the 6 Hours of Fuji later in September before returning once again to full strength for the season-closing 8 Hours of Bahrain in November.

Elsewhere in Hypercar, the four drivers that missed the Sao Paulo race due to clashing Formula E commitments – Sebastien Buemi (Toyota), Robin Frijns (BMW), Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne (both Peugeot) are all back in action at COTA.

It means The Heart of Racing Aston Martin squad is the only Hypercar outfit to be running two-driver lineups in what is expected to be among the most physically demanding races of the season.

In the LMGT3 class, Derek DeBoer returns to the lineup for the Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin for his home race having missed Sao Paulo.

Timur Boguslavskiy likewise is back in the No. 31 Team WRT BMW after skipping the Brazilian race.

The only other change from Sao Paulo, as previously announced, is Ben Barnicoat’s return to the lineup of the No. 78 Akkodis ASP Lexus RC F GT3.
