Mick Schumacher will part ways with Alpine after two seasons racing for the French manufacturer’s FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program.
The German confirmed through a post on social media that he will leave Alpine, having been strongly linked to a move to the NTT IndyCar Series with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Schumacher’s future with Alpine had been the topic of speculation for some time, which only became stronger after the 26-year-old tested with RLL at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last month.
“I’m very grateful for these past two years with Alpine Endurance Team,” Schumacher wrote.
“I’ve learnt so much on and off track, and I’m thankful to everyone who’s been a part of it. I wish them the very best for the future.”
Schumacher contested 16 races at the wheel of the Alpine A424, capturing three podium finishes at Fuji, Imola and Spa-Francorchamps.
The German is the second driver in the span of 24 hours to announce his departure from Alpine, after Paul-Loup Chatin did something similar before being confirmed at Genesis Magma Racing on Thursday.
While Alpine announced the signing of Antonio Felix da Costa last month, Schumacher’s exit means the brand is set to have one more vacancy to fill ahead of next year’s Qatar 1812km season opener.
