Tom van Rompuy has revealed that he will not stay with the TF Sport Corvette team for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season, as he prepares to sample two different types of LMGT3 cars in this weekend’s post-season rookie test.

The 38-year-old Belgian driver has been a fixture of TF Sport’s No. 81 lineup since the start of the LMGT3 era last year, sharing one of the British squad’s two Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs with Charlie Eastwood and Rui Andrade in that time.

However, speaking with Sportscar365 at Bahrain on Thursday, van Rompuy confirmed that he is due to be replaced by another Bronze-rated driver for next season.

It comes after the entry list for Sunday’s rookie test confirmed that van Rompuy will join the Akkodis ASP team to sample the Lexus RC F GT3.

He will also try out the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with Iron Lynx in the one-day test.

“I got the news that I won’t be continuing next year with Corvette, not because of my decision but because of drivers shifting between teams and other Bronze drivers coming in,” van Rompuy told Sportscar365.

“To be honest, I’m quite sad about it because I really like being in TF. It’s like a family; I always felt good inside the team. But this is motorsport, and you have to look ahead.

“[ASP boss] Jerome Policand contacted me asking if I was interested in driving in the rookie test, and I will also drive the Mercedes-AMG. I am speaking to three or four teams for next year hopefully to get another seat in WEC, so let’s see.”

Van Rompuy clarified that he will contest the forthcoming Asian Le Mans Series season with TF before parting ways with the team upon the conclusion of that campaign.

“I look back on the last two years with really positive feelings,” he added.

“The first year was a bit heavy, because it was the first year for the Corvette GT3, so there were quite a few growing pains, but you could feel the ambition within the team and the will to find a solution for those problems.

“It’s a super professional team in my opinion, they don’t leave anything on the table, and how they handle people inside the team, both drivers and crew.”

Van Rompuy and his co-drivers in the No. 81 Corvette go into this weekend’s Bahrain finale with an outside chance of winning the LMGT3 title following their victory in the previous race at Fuji in September.

He, Andrade and Eastwood trail the points-leading No. 92 Manthey Porsche crew by 24 points with a total of 39 points up for grabs over the weekend.

“We always want to try and grab any opportunity, but it will be a very tough one,” said van Rompuy. “We’ll do everything we can with the possibilities we have, and then the rest is up to what the others are doing to be able to have a chance.

“That would be nice, to close off the chapter with the title.”
