Dustin Blattner, Loek Hartog and Dennis Marschall took victory for Car Collection Motorsport in the Hankook 6H Abu Dhabi, beating Baron Motorsport in a race-long duel at Yas Marina Circuit.
Marschall took the No. 96 Porsche 911 GT3 R across the line 57.439 seconds ahead of the No. 86 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of Ernst Kirchmayr, Axcil Jefferies and Philipp Baron.
A charging stint from Jefferies appeared to put the Austrian squad on course for victory, but momentum swung back in Car Collection’s favour when the No. 86 Ferrari needed to stop for fuel deep within the final hour of the race.
A technical issue with the fuel pumps compounded Baron’s woes, with the Ferrari entering the refueling area as the race went green after it previously was neutralized when the problems struck.
The time loss allowed Car Collection to assume the lead, which Marschall kept even as Jefferies closed in to claim the team’s second 6H Abu Dhabi victory after previously winning in 2021.
Manamauri Energy by Ebimotors’ No. 95 Porsche of Fabrizio Broggi, Sergiu Nicolae, Sabino de Castro and Cosimo Papi completed the podium ahead of the No. 99 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II driven by Jef Machiels, Alex Aka and Florian Scholze.
Herberth Motorsport completed the overall top five ahead of the No. 85 CP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the hands of Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub, Joe Foster and Shane Lewis.
In GT4, the battle for class victory went down to the final lap, with Charlie Robertson moving the No. 429 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 to the lead on the final corner of the race.
Robertson, sharing the car with Ravi Ramyead, took advantage of GT3 traffic to pass the No. 438 AGMC Racing Team by Simpson Motorsport BMW of Fabian Duffieux, Timothy Docker and Ivan Krapivtsev to win.
Toyota Gazoo Racing UK completed the class podium with the No. 423 Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo driven by Michael O’Brien, Benjamin Tusting, Samuel Harrison and Kavi Jundu.
