Christopher Mies set the pace in Thursday’s second Free Practice session for the Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai, taking his WRT-run Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo to the top spot.
He traded places at the top of the timesheets with Matteo Malucelli late in the session but came back to set a 1:58.777 with five minutes to go.
He shares the WRT Audi with Dries Vanthoor, Michael Vergers and Mohammed Saud Fahad Al Saud, and the WRT entry leading FP2 comes after similar Audis took the top three positions in the first session this morning.
Malucelli placed second in his Bohemia Energy Racing with Scuderia Praha Ferrari 488 GT3, four-tenths off the pace, while KCMG’s No. 23 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 was classified third.
HTP Motorsport led the A6-Am class with its No. 25 Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Cicely Motorsport’s GT4 Mercedes came out top in the GT4 category.
The session was interrupted for a nine-minute Code 60 period, held as an exercise of the system, rather than as a result of any incidents.
GT qualifying will get underway at 4:15 p.m. local time, after TCE qualifying at 3:15 p.m.
