One of the pre-race favorites has hit trouble in the early stages of the Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai, with the No. 3 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 stopping on track in the third hour.
Bernd Schneider was at the wheel as the car, making its 24-hour debut, ground to a halt on the front straight with transmission. It was running solidly inside the top-five overall.
The incident brought out the third Code 60 of the race to retrieve the car.
The No. 14 Optimum Motorsport Audi R8 LMS of Frank Stippler remains out front, although the No. 19 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi of Laurens Vanthoor has also enjoyed time out front.
Just under 22 hours remain in the race.
