The new Lexus RC F GT3 will make its European debut this year in the hands of two teams, with Farnbacher Racing and Emil Frey Racing having been announced as development parters for the Japanese manufacturer’s new GT3 car.
Farnbacher, known for its success in ADAC GT Masters, will campaign one of the cars in the VLN series for Dominik and Mario Farnbacher.
It will mark the first time the Farnbacher brothers have raced together in the same car.
“Lexus sees the Nürburgring as a perfect testing ground to make the car ready for 2016, which they see as their target year to sell to customers,” Dominik Farnbacher told Sportscar365.
“We plan to do a lot of testing since the car is still under development.”
Farnbacher said they will focus entirely on the VLN series this year, with the car scheduled to make its race debut in the third round of the season on June 20.
The second entry, entered by the Swiss-based Emil Frey squad, will see Lorenz Frey, Markus Oestreich and Jordan Tresson at the wheel, also initially for VLN competition.
Lexus has outlined plans for an aggressive GT3 program in 2016, which will include a factory team in North America.
