Grove Racing has aligned itself with 2 Seas Motorsport for next month’s Gulf 12 Hours, while also adding Mercedes-AMG factory driver Jules Gounon to its lineup.
The Bahraini squad will run the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the father-and-son duo of Stephen and Brenton Grove, with Gounon coming in as the third driver for the event.
All three drivers were on the grid during last year’s edition of the Abu Dhabi enduro, when it formed a round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge for the last time.
There, the Groves shared an Earl Bamber Motorsport-operated Porsche 911 GT3 R with Richie Stanaway while Gounon secured the IGTC drivers’ crown by finishing on the podium in a 2 Seas-entered Pro car.
“For me, the Gulf 12 Hours is a real highlight of the racing calendar,” said 2 Seas team co-owner Isa Al Khalifa.
“I have enjoyed some great success, competing, and it is always a fantastic event to watch.
“We are in a purple patch in terms of GT3 racing currently, with strong grids and fantastic series across the world, and we are proud to be part of it, competing at the sharp end.”
“It is fantastic to have Jules back with us for this year, after we raced together last year and helped him secure his Intercontinental GT Challenge title, and it is great to welcome Stephen and Brenton to the team.
“They, and the whole Grove Racing team, have established themselves as a formidable force over the years, globally and domestically, and it is an exciting proposition to be working with them and supporting their efforts as we try to secure a third Gulf 12 Hours title.”
