BMW has been hit with a post-qualifying Balance of Performance adjustment that has resulted in a reduction of turbo boost for its GT3 cars ahead of this afternoon’s FIA GT World Cup Qualifying Race in Macau.
The German manufacturer, which claimed its first-ever Macau pole and swept the front row in the process and placed four cars in the top six, has been handed a 40 millibar reduction in turbo boost across all power levels on its BMW M4 GT3.
No BoP changes have been made to any of the other GT3 models competing this weekend on the Guia Circuit.
A statement from the FIA read: “Following Friday’s qualifying session, the FIA technical staff conducted an in-depth analysis of the performance data of all cars, resulting in Balance of Performance adjustment for the remainder of the weekend.
“The qualifying session was the first session of the week held in dry conditions, with both free practice sessions held in wet weather conditions on Thursday.
“For this reason, the real performance picture only emerged after the qualifying session, with weather conditions, such as atmospheric air pressure, being a factor.”
The 12-lap Qualifying Race gets underway at 1:50 p.m. local time (12:50 a.m. ET) with live coverage on the FIA’s YouTube channel.
