A number of leading GT teams have received invitations to compete in December’s Gulf 12 Hours, with a capacity 34-car grid projected.
A total of 11 GT3 and six GT4 teams are listed as potential entrants in the Dec. 14 race at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, while entries could still be given to additional teams.
Prototype teams will also be permitted in the race, and although a list won’t be released until the end of August, United Autosports confirmed a two-car entry on Monday with a pair of Ligier JS P3 Nissans.
The following GT3 teams have received invites: 3Y Technology, AF Corse, AKKA ASP, Attempto Racing, Barwell Motorsport, E2 Racing, GPX Racing, Kessel Racing, Optimum Motorsport, Rinaldi Racing and Scuderia Villorba Corse.
An additional GT3 team could also be added to the list by the end of the month, meanwhile.
The GT4 field is set to include entries from 3Y Technology, Century Motorsport, Ciceley Motorsport, Dragon Racing, Optimum Motorsport and Scuderia Villorba Corse.
The current entry limit, with one car in each of the 34 pit boxes, is in place due to the refuelling systems.
Some teams have suggested allowing two cars in a garage and sharing the refuelling towers, and the race organizers are looking into this possibility as a way to increase the field to more than 34 cars.
