Driving Force Events has confirmed a provisional list of 21 teams entered for next month’s Gulf 12 Hours, which will return to a Pro-Am format after a two-year spell as a round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
In total, seven manufacturers are represented, with Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche all present on the grid.
Out of the 21 confirmed teams, three have won the event previously with Kessel Racing, AF Corse and 2 Seas Motorsport holding nine wins between them.
The 2024 edition of the race will mark a return to the two-part format that was a staple of the event before it became a round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge in 2022 and 2023.
For this year, an opening eight-hour segment will be followed by a two-hour break before the race wraps up with the final four hours.
Promoter Driving Force Events has outlined that it expects the number of cars competing in the event to grow further, stating that additional competitors that will take part in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup finale in Saudi Arabia are “still in the process of finalising their entries.”
Several teams have already confirmed driver lineups for the race.
AF Corse, winners in 2014 and 2022, confirmed Alessandro Cozzi, Eliseo Donno, Marco Pulcini and Giorgio Sernagiotto as its first crew with further lineups to be named at a later date.
Fellow Ferrari squad Rinaldi Racing will have Christian Hook, Rinat Salikhov, Felipe Fernandez Laser and David Perel at the wheel of its Ferrari 296 GT3.
Sven Mueller, meanwhile, will spearhead the lineup for Proton Huber Competition’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, joined by Sergey Stolyarov and Sergei Borisov.
Mueller and Borisov finished on the overall podium with Proton Huber in January’s 24 Hours of Dubai.
HAAS RT, one of two squads representing Audi on the initial list of 21 teams, has confirmed that John Corbett, Casper Stevenson, Xavier Knauf and Gregory Servais will drive its Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.
