Inception Racing will enter next month’s Gulf 12 Hours with its regular IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver lineup, the team has announced.
Brendan Iribe, Ollie Millroy and Frederik Schandorff will pilot the No. 70 Ferrari 296 GT3 for the event, which takes place at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit on Dec. 13-14.
It will mark the first time that the Optimum Motorsport-run Ferrari has contested a race outside of the WeatherTech Championship’s GTD category, where it is a regular fixture.
Iribe, Millroy and Schandorff took the car to its first victory during September’s six-hour Battle on the Bricks race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Inception has competed in the Gulf 12 Hours on multiple occasions in the past, most notably when the event formed part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar in 2022.
Last year, when it competed under its own name, Optimum initially secured an overall victory in the event with a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo driven by Schandorff, Todd Coleman and Aaron Telitz, only to be stripped of the win after a post-race penalty for pit lane speeding.
