Two-time Nürburgring 24 winners Black Falcon will run a GT3 entry in the event for the first time since 2019, entering a single Porsche 911 GT3 R as part of a wider Nordschleife program that debuts at this weekend’s NLS season opener.
Confirmed on Thursday, the German squad will field the No. 48 car under the Black Falcon Team EAE banner, competing in the SP9 Pro-Am category.
Team regulars Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, Gabriele Piana and Mike Stursberg form the core of the driver lineup, stepping up from racing Porsche 992 GT3 Cup machinery.
They will be joined for the Eifel endurance classic by Ben Buennagel as well as reigning GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup Silver champion Daan Arrow, who will also alternate for the five NLS rounds.
The entry marks a return to top-level competition at the N24 for Black Falcon, which notched up two overall victories at the event in 2013 and 2016, the latter coming on debut for the Mercedes-AMG GT3.
It subsequently shuttered its GT3 activities in 2020 amidst the coronavirus pandemic, with several key staff members and resources moving across to form the Haupt Racing Team squad that has remained a key fixture in GT3 competition ever since.
Black Falcon, for its part, continued its customer racing programs in various classes, including a relationship with Porsche that resulted in a brief return to GT3 competition in 2021.
Of note, in addition to its newly announced GT3 program, the team will continue to operate the Team Bilstein by Black Falcon BMW M4 GT4 EVO for 2016 N24 winner Manuel Metzger and YouTube personalities Steve Alvarez Brown, Jimmy Broadbent and Misha Charoudin.
“I am incredibly happy and grateful that we have been able to bring together such a high-class line-up of high-performing drivers and excellent team partners in these not exactly rosy times,” said team CEO Alex Boehm.
“I would like to thank the entire Black Falcon team for the outstanding work that has brought us to this fortunate position.
“My special thanks go to all our team partners, without whom our sport would not be possible at this level.
“A warm “welcome” to all new drivers, partners and employees who will strengthen our team enormously in the 2025 season.”
