Dumbreck Switches to New Off-Track Role with Falken

Peter Dumbreck has transferred to a new off-track ambassadorial role with Falken Motorsport after over a decade of driving for the team in Nürburgring endurance events.

Dumbreck, 47, has called time on his driving spell with the Schnabl Engineering-run Falken squad but has vowed to continue racing professionally elsewhere this season.

The Scottish racer made his first Nürburgring 24 appearance for Falken in the 2007 edition, driving a Nissan Fairlady Z33.

Since then Dumbreck, whose other racing experiences include drives in Super GT, FIA GT1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has been a staple of the Falken operation’s driver lineup in both the N24 and the NLS series which was known as the VLN until last year.

Dumbreck contested a total of 14 Nürburgring 24-hour races with Falken and finished third overall in the 2015 edition, sharing a Porsche with Wolf Henzler, Martin Ragginger and Alexandre Imperatori.

“It’s incredibly rare for a driver and team to enjoy such a long-term relationship as I have enjoyed with Falken,” said Dumbreck.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Falken in Europe and Japan for all the hard work to date. I’m still a racing driver, so expect to see me out competing at some point this year.”

Dumbreck’s new role at Falken Motorsport will see him lend advisory support to the team’s entry with two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, along with marketing and promotional activities.

He is also set to continue as an FIA stewards’ advisor and Le Mans commentator.

“Peter has played a critical role in promoting the Falken brand and is hugely respected by the team, his teammates and the management team at Falken,” said Falken race team manager Stefanie Olbertz.

“Without his experience, commitment and team spirit, we would never have got to where we are today.

“We are delighted Peter remains part of the family and now fans and our guests will get to see more of why he is so special to Falken.”
