The 52nd running of the Nürburgring 24 has remained under red flag conditions with under four hours remaining as thick fog continues to cover the circuit.

The race was halted at 11:23 p.m. CEST on Saturday night with Christopher Mies in the No. 16 Scherer Sport PHX Audi leading in front of the No. 72 BMW M4 GT3 driven by Dan Harper.

An initial seven-hour red flag period has since extended well into Sunday afternoon, with no restart time currently having been announced by race control despite regular updates at 30-minute intervals.

Teams were told to prepare for an eventual restart and take up positions on the grid with the pit exit light going green at 9:30 a.m. CEST (3:30 a.m. EDT) although the cars have sat on the grid since.

Should the race be restarted, Mies will lead the field to green ahead of the No. 911 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R, Harper’s No. 72 BMW and No. 4 Mercedes-AMG Team Bilstein Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Defending race winners Frikadelli Racing Team are set to take the restart sixth with their No. 1 Ferrari 296 GT3, behind the No. 27 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini.

Overnight, the No. 8 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG was retired from the race after it suffered damage in an incident with Adam Christodoulou at the wheel.

The No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, with which Christodoulou collided on the opening lap of the race on Saturday, has similarly been retired from the race and will not take the restart.
