Max Hesse completed a qualifying practice sweep for BMW M Team RMG at the Nürburgring 24, keeping the No. 72 BMW M4 GT3 up top for the third consecutive session.

The German driver stormed to a best lap of 8:13.518 during the 75-minute session on Friday afternoon, beating the No. 706 Glickenhaus SCG 004C of Franck Mailleux by 2.533 seconds.

Although the SP-X entry set the second time of the weekend thus far, team owner Jim Glickenhaus confirmed on the official German-language N24 broadcast that the No. 706 car will forego its spot in the first of segment this evening’s Top Qualifying in order to complete a pre-race engine change.

Ricardo Feller went third at the wheel of the No. 16 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, while Fabian Schiller put in a late 8:16.892 aboard the No. 130 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to go fourth fastest.

Laurens Vanthoor completed the top five behind the wheel of the No. 911 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R, ahead of Christopher Haase’s No. 15 Audi.

Augusto Farfus was the best of the ROWE Racing drivers by taking seventh in the No. 99 BMW, leading the No. 7 Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

Nico Bastian and Marcel Marchewicz rounded out the top ten for PROsport Racing and Schnitzelalm Racing, respectively.

Although the third and final practice qualifying session ahead of the 52nd running of the Eifel endurance classic was less incident-packed than the previous two, it still featured a notable accident for one of the factory-backed Mercedes-AMG entries.

Daniel Juncadella spun the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG Team Bilstein entry into the barriers in the closing moments of the session.

After initially attempting to drive the car back to the pits, the Spaniard parked the damaged car at Brunnchen after the checkered flag had come out.

Morris Schuring, who claimed his maiden FIA World Endurance Championship victory with Manthey EMA at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps a few weeks ago, also had a coming together with the barriers just before Juncadella’s accident.

The Dutchman, driving the No. 148 BLACK FALCON Team 48 LOSCH Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, went off at Hohe Acht, spinning into the guardrail before becoming to a rest beached on a kerb.

Track action for the Nürburgring 24 continues with Top Qualifying this evening, with the first session due to start at 5:30 p.m. CEST (11:50 a.m. EDT).
