Tigani Motorsport’s James and Theo Koundouris will return to GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS this season with the brothers once again entered in the Am Cup in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Veterans of Australian motorsport, the Koundouris brothers have more than four decades of racing experience and just shy of 600 races between them since making their official debuts back in 2003.

Since their first appearance at the Bathurst 24 Hour race in 2003, where they raced in different cars, the brothers have competed in a range of national categories such as GT and production cars.

While they spent their younger years racing against each other, they have been together in recent times tackling multiple Bathurst 12 Hour events as well as the GTWC Australia.

Over the past two seasons in the GTWC Australia Am Cup, they have enjoyed 13 podiums in 17 races, making them one of the key contenders for the class.

The pair got their first win in the series last year at The Bend to help them eventually finish the year in third overall – the same place they ended up in the 2024 Sprint Cup.

The Koundouris brothers’ Mercedes-AMG is one of four that is expected to be fielded by Tigani in GTWC Australia this year, with the Pro-Am entry to be shared by Brendon Leitch and Sergio Pires having already been revealed.

Tigani has also added a Trophy class Porsche 911 GT3 R to its stable for the upcoming season, which begins at Phillip Island on March 27-29, as announced last week.
