David Pittard will drive for Walkenhorst Motorsport at both the Total 24 Hours of Spa and Nürburgring 24, as well as competing in the full VLN season this year.
The Brit has signed a two-year deal with the BMW factory-supported team which makes the step up to Intercontinental GT Challenge competition this season.
While its full-season IGTC lineup of Nicky Catsburg, Mikkel Jensen and Christian Krognes has already been announced, Pittard is set to be added to the fold for the IGTC centerpiece at Spa.
How he will exactly fit into the lineup remains to be seen as fourth drivers are not permitted for Pro Cup entries, and so the team could run a second BMW M6 GT3 at the Belgian endurance classic.
He will also be competing in the Nürburgring 24 in June, as well as for the full VLN season.
Pittard drove for Walkenhorst in a couple of VLN races late last season, balancing the program with historic race appearances.
“I am super confident and eager to perform with an established set-up of both team and car, building upon my introductory, partial season with Walkenhorst,” he said.
“With the continuity of both engineers and mechanics and back-room support I know we will hit the ground running from the very first lap in 2019.
“This will be a huge year for me, driving for one of the very best performance car manufacturers in the world in two of the biggest GT events anywhere!”
