The first two entries for Ginetta’s single-make class in GT America powered by AWS have been confirmed, with RacingSupport having firmed up plans to field a pair of Ginetta G56 GTP8s in the series.
RacingSupport, which has fielded Ginetta G56 GTA entries in the SVRA-run Ginetta Challenge series, will move into SRO America competition this year, with David Lecko confirmed as its first driver.
Lecko is slated to begin a testing program in the new V8-powered GTP8 car in the near future.
“The Ginetta ladder prepared me for this step into GT America,” said Lecko. “I’m excited to grow, compete, and evolve at the next level.”
Ginetta North America President Mark Swain added: “We are thrilled to be moving into the GT America paddock with the GTP8.
“We are also extremely proud to have competitors like RacingSupport and David Lecko move up the ladder from track days to Ginetta Challenge and now a national campaign in GT America.”
Announced last year at the season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour powered by AWS event, the British manufacturer will have its own class within GT America, alongside the returning SRO3 (GT3), GT4 and GT2 categories, as well as a new Cup class for Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini single-make machinery.
The GT America season kicks off with a pair of 40-minute single FIA Bronze-rated driver races at Sonoma Raceway on March 27-29.
