Blake McDonald continued his run of form from first practice, setting the fastest lap time in Practice 2 for GT America powered by AWS on Friday morning at Barber Motorsports Park.

McDonald quickly jumped to the top of the times after his first flying laps, and continued to chip away at his time throughout the 30-minute session.

By the checkered flag, he laid down a 1:22.742 benchmark time in his No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R on his 20th and final timed lap to outpace SKI Autosports’ Memo Gidley.

Gidley improved in the final minutes of the session aboard his No. 56 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, finishing the session in second, 0.639 seconds down on the DXDT driver’s time.

GMG Racing’s Kyle Washington was third quickest overall in his No. 32 Porsche 911 GT3 R, which will compete in both GT America and GT World Challenge America powered by AWS this weekend.

Ross Chouest went fourth fastest in Practice 2 in his race-winning No. 50 Corvette, ahead of RS1’s Joel Cortes, who rounded out the top five times in the all-SRO3 class field in the No. 19 Porsche.

Despite not recording a time in Practice 1, Tony Davis recorded the sixth-best time in Practice 2 in his debuting No. 004 HP-TECH Motorsports Ferrari 296 GT3, finishing ahead of SRO3 points-leader Justin Rothberg.

Jason Bell, meanwhile, was eighth fastest for Racers Edge Motorsports, with Farhan Siddiqi in ninth in his FASTMD Racing with Remstar Audi.

McDonald remained the only GTA driver to set a time below the 1 minute, 23-second mark during the session.

Unlike Practice 1, second practice ran entirely green, allowing the field of nine SRO3 competitors to dial in their setups ahead of qualifying, which takes place on Saturday at 8:10 a.m. CST, ahead of the first race of the weekend at 11:55 a.m.
