A three-way battle for the SRO3 class championship in GT America powered by AWS heads to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend for the penultimate event of the season.

Four races remain to crown the champion, which sees Johnny O’Connell with a scant eight-point lead over Jason Daskalos, although Justin Rothberg is quickly closing in on both competitors, sitting 19 points back in third.

The Turner Motorsport driver, who scored a win and runner-up finish last time out at Road America, had momentum on his side in the No. 29 BMW M4 GT3, which is riding a five-race podium streak.

A total of 16 cars are entered for the Barber round across SRO3 and the GT4 categories, the latter title which could be locked up this weekend by Isaac Sherman who currently has a 53-point lead over ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin.

Sherman, who has nine wins out of 12 races in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, will need to leave Alabama with at least a 50-point advantage in order to clinch the title with two races still to spare.

Track action gets underway on Friday with a pair of practice sessions, followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday morning.

Both 40-minute races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
