John Capestro-Dubets and Eric Filgueiras scored victory in Sunday’s Pirelli GT4 America race at Road America in a dramatic race that went the way of the RS1 duo.

Capestro-Dubets took his No. 28 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to a 0.539-second victory over the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO of Tyler Gonzalez following a five-minute shootout after a series of two full-course cautions.

The two cars swapped the lead multiple times in dramatic fashion that saw Capestro-Dubets narrowly come out on top.

Kevin Boehm led the field to the green on the final restart but his No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 was assessed a drive-through penalty for a pit lane speeding infringement.

He elected not to take the penalty, thus finishing first on the road but was handed a post-race penalty, finishing 20th overall.

It came after a dramatic first restart that saw the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW of Colin Garrett and the Pro-Am class-leading No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Curt Swearingin make contact entering Turn 1, resulting in a spin for Swearingin.

Garrett served a drive-through penalty for the incident, finishing 19th.

Pro-Am class honors went to the No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Roman De Angelis and Gray Newell after Swearingin’s incident.

The No. 23 TechSport Racing Nissan Z NISMO GT4 of Johan Schwartz and Jonathan Neudorf finish second in class, with the No. 18 RS1 Porsche of Roland and Auatin Krainz completing the podium.

The No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche of Robb Holland and Jaden Lander, meanwhile, swept the weekend in the Am class.

James Clay’s No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW appeared to be en route to a runner-up finish in class until Clay pulled off course just moments before the final restart.

RESULTS: Race 2
