Michael Cooper has claimed a sweep of the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint weekend with a win in a rain-shortened Race 2 at Road America.
Cooper led from the start of the 50-minute scheduled race, which started with a single lap under the safety car, before extending into a two-second lead over the No. 66 TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Spencer Pumpelly.
With rain intensifying around the four-mile Wisconsin circuit, SRO Motorsports America officials elected to red flag the race with 23 minutes to go.
The race did not restart, with the checkered flag shown as conditions worsened.
As the race did not reach the 75 percent distance mark, only half points were awarded.
The No. 72 Robinson Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R of Shane Lewis, in the team’s final race, completed the overall podium in third, with teammate Gar Robinson in fourth.
Ian James, who started from the rear of the 18-car field, was classified seventh overall in the No. 50 Panoz Avezzano GT4.
James entered the weekend as the GT4 Pro points leader prior to engine-related issues in Race 1 that has seen Cooper take over the lead and expand his margin over Pumpelly in Race 2.
The No. 7 Park Place Motorsports Porsche of Alan Brynjolfsson, meanwhile, claimed GT4 Sprint Am class honors on Sunday following contact between Jarett Andretti and the then class-leading No. 12 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Drew Staveley.
The incident came as the full-course caution came out that led to the red flag.
Andretti was given a drive-through penalty, to be served under green flag conditions, which never materialized.
Staveley was classified second, with Marko Radisic completing the class podium in third.
