SRO America has reaffirmed its 2023 schedule for Pirelli GT4 America, having ruled out the addition of an endurance round to the season, which had been under consideration.
The SprintX-based series, featuring two 60-minute races per weekend, will remain unchanged for next year, following the same base calendar that was originally announced at SRO Motorsport Group’s annual press conference at Spa in July.
While there has been several date changes since the initial schedule announcement, all GT4 America rounds will run on Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS weekends.
It will include two rounds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to close out the 2023 season, as support races to the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS.
“We are returning to our planned seven event Pirelli GT4 America schedule for 2023, finishing at Indy in October,” said SRO America President and CEO Greg Gill in a statement to teams.
“The two 60-minute races format will remain as it was in 2022. There was interest and support from the paddock for an endurance round, however, the issues created for teams and the venue were insurmountable at this time.
“We will continue to examine opportunities for a GT4 endurance round in 2024.”
Event registration opens on Dec. 1 for teams wanting to compete in the series, which attracted 30-plus car grids this year amid the continued growth of the GT4 formula in North America.
