Leist Sets the Pace in Second GT4 Practice at Sonoma

Matheus Leist was quickest in the second Pirelli GT4 America practice session of the day at Sonoma Raceway, leading the way for Nolasport.

The ex-IndyCar driver reeled off a 1:41.937 in his No. 23 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, ending the 45-minute session as the only driver to break into the 1:41 barrier.

Leist, in his Pro-Am entry, was 0.320 seconds quicker than the Practice 1 pace-setting No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Riley Dickinson.

The Silver class was topped by the No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 of Tyler Gonzalez, who was third overall.

Zac Anderson put his No. 52 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO in fourth, ahead of Kenton Koch’s No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW completing the top-five.

Koch was followed by three more BMWs, from Nate Cicero (Fast Track Racing), Tyler McQuarrie (BimmerWorld) and Josh Green (Random Vandals).

Alex Ellis and Matt Million completed the overall top-ten for VPX Motorsport and AutoTechnic, respectively.

Allen Patten, meanwhile, put the No. 606 Thunder Bunny Racing Toyota 12th overall on the time sheets and quickest of the Am class entries.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 10:25 a.m. PST.
