Shane Lewis led the way in opening Pirelli GT4 America practice under the lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in preparation for this weekend’s season-ending races.
Lewis reeled off a 1:42.879 lap time in the No. 41 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 with ten minutes remaining in the 45-minute session, which ran without major incident.
Lewis is making his debut with the PF Mustang squad this weekend following the ceasing of operations of Robinson Racing, which he had previously driven for.
His time was 0.030 seconds quicker than Guy Cosmo, who led the way in the GT4 SprintX Pro-Am class in the No. 89 RennTech Mercedes-AMG GT4.
Matt Brabham was third quickest overall in the No. 20 CRP Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR and the second-best GT4 Sprint Pro entry.
The No. 21 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche of Robby Foley was fourth, with newly crowned GT4 Sprint Am class champion Drew Staveley completing the top-five overall.
Jade Buford was sixth in the sister No. 42 PF Mustang GT4, while Trent Hindman was quickest of the GT4 West Pro-Am competitors in seventh in his No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche.
The No. 2 GMG Racing Porsche of James Sofronas, meanwhile, led GT4 SprintX Am with the eighth quickest time overall.
GT4 West Am was paced by the No. 91 Rearden Audi R8 LMS GT4 of Vesko Kozarov.
Practice 2 gets underway Friday at 9:40 a.m. PT, followed by qualifying in the afternoon.
