Jonathan Neudorf stormed to pole for the first Pirelli GT4 America race of the season at Sonoma Raceway with the debuting Advance Motorsports McLaren outfit.
The ex-JMF Racing driver jumped to the top of the time charts in the 15-minute session, having reeled off a 1:41.048 in his Silver class Artura GT4 that he’s due to share with 18-year-old rookie Austin Jurs.
Neudorf, who is currently only confirmed for this weekend with the Chicago area-based team, outpaced the No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 of Westin Workman by a hefty 0.444 seconds.
Silver class entries took the top five positions overall, with Josh Green in the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO third quickest, ahead of ex-Random Vandals driver Kevin Boehm, now driving for Auto Technic Racing.
Thursday pacesetter Yves Baltas completed the top-five in his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Pro-Am pole honors went to the No. 39 Dome Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Allen Patten, who qualified sixth, ahead of Luca Mars’ Silver class No. 028 RS1 Porsche and the Sam Craven-qualified No. 94 Random Vandals BMW.
Alex Garcia, who along with his brother are racing under a derogated Bronze* this weekend, scooped up the Am class pole in the No. 21 ACI Motorsports BMW.
The No. 40 Off Leash Motorsports Mercedes-AMG was assessed a five-minute hold at the start of the sessions for taking more than one checkered flag during a previous session.
In a change for this year, the Race 2 grid will be set by the second driver’s best lap in the opening race.
The first 60-minute race of the season takes the green flag at 1:55 p.m. PST (4:55 p.m. EST) with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch, featuring commentary from Ryan Myrehn and Calvin Fish in the booth, plus Amanda Busick on pit lane.
