The first race of the Pirelli GT4 America weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined event later in the season due to Saturday’s weather-related delays.
Confirmed in a stewards’ bulletin issued by SRO America on Saturday evening, only one 60-minute GT4 America race will now take place this weekend due to “significant delays” in Saturday’s schedule because of inclement weather.
Heavy rain led to a more than two-hour delay for Saturday’s Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race that was scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m. CT but did not get underway until 5:26 p.m.
Saturday’s GT4 America race was originally scheduled to start at 5 p.m. this evening.
“The organizer has proposed and the stewards have conferred, and agreed to the following changes to the GT4 America race schedule for the remainder of the event,” the stewards report read. “The Stewards consider this a case of force majeure.”
This weekend’s single GT4 America race will take place on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT as originally scheduled although will be based on qualifying results for Race 1.
