Nolasport’s Jason Hart and Matt Travis have scored a dominant victory in the first Pirelli GT4 America race of the season Saturday at Sonoma Raceway.
Hart pedaled the No. 47 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport to a commanding 10.664-second win over the No. 62 Dexter Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Ryan Dexter and Warren Dexter, which collected the Silver class win.
The 60-minute race ran caution-free and without any major incidents.
It marked the third consecutive year that Nolasport opened the season with an overall win in SprintX-style competition.
Murillo Racing made it three different manufacturers in the top-three, with Kenny Murillo and Christian Szymczak taking their No. 72 Mercedes-AMG GT4 to third overall and second in the Silver class.
A late charge by Kenton Koch secured a fourth place overall result for the No. 15 BSport Racing Aston Martin, meanwhile.
Nolasport celebrated a double victory on Saturday with its No. 46 Porsche of Russell Walker and late fill-in Patrick Byrne taking Am class honors with a fifth place overall finish.
BimmerWorld was denied a potential podium finish after its No. 36 BMW of Nick Galante was forced to serve a drive-through penalty for an unsafe pit lane release during the mid-race pit stop and driver changes.
Galante and co-driver James Clay, who ran as high as second during his stint, finished 25th overall in the 33-car starting field.
The second and final race of the weekend is scheduled for Sunday at 10:55 a.m. PT (1:55 p.m. ET) with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
