Matheus Leist and Michael Auriemma combined for overall victory in a drama-filled second Pirelli GT4 America race of the weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, while RS1’s Eric Filgueiras and John Capestro-Dubets came out on top in the Silver class championship.

Leist drove his No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 to a 2.073-second win over Roman De Angelis’ No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo in an action-packed 60-minute contest that saw double championship misfortunes for Random Vandals Racing

The team’s Silver class championship quest came to a dramatic end moments after the No. 97 BMW M4 GT4’s mid-race pit stop, when Kevin Boehm was collected in an accident with the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Austin Krainz.

Boehm’s car later suffered right-front suspension damage and was retired.

It opened the door for Filgueiras and Capestro-Dubets, who were running behind the BMW on the road prior to the incident, to take the Silver class title in their No. 28 RS1 Porsche, which finished fifth overall.

The No. 98 Random Vandals BMW, meanwhile, appeared to be en route to Am class victory and the title for co-driver Kris Wilson until Michael Kanisczak slowed on the final lap, handing the title to Rotek Racing’s Robb Holland and Jaden Lander.

Holland crossed the line second in the category, behind the class-winning No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW of James Clay and Charlie Postins.

It came after contact between Clay and Kanisczak in the final ten minutes that was noted by race control but did not result in any penalty.

Silver class honors in the race went to the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW of Zac Anderson and Colin Garrett, who held the overall lead until getting passed by Leist and De Angelis in the closing minutes while fending off a hard-charging No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG of Michai Stevens.

The two Silver class entries finished the race third and fourth, respectively, after the pole-sitting No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO, which led the opening stages with Corey Lewis, dropped out with issues following the pit stop sequence.
