SRO America has confirmed details of the Road America makeup race for Pirelli GT4 America, which has been rescheduled to next month’s event at Barber Motorsports Park.
Communicated to teams on Tuesday, the 60-minute eighth round of the season will be run on Fri. Sept. 5 as part of the Barber weekend. It will run from 3:35-4:35 p.m. CST that afternoon.
Per a stewards bulletin, teams may use tires from their Road America Race 1 allocation or purchase new Pirelli rubber.
The addition to the Barber weekend has reshuffled Thursday’s track activities, which now includes a practice session for GT4 America competitors, in addition to the typical GT America practice and test sessions for all series.
The two Barber GT4 America races will run as previously scheduled on Sat. Sept. 6 at 4:50 p.m. CST and Sun. Sept. 7 at 11:10 a.m.
The first race of the weekend at Road America was called off due to multiple lightning strikes in the area, despite cars having taken an initial pace lap that had started the official race clock.
The grid will be set by the Qualifying 1 session from Road America, with only cars that took part in the weekend at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit being eligible.
