Roman De Angelis and Eduardo Barrichello will complete Heart of Racing by SPS’ lineup for next month’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
Confirmed on Tuesday, the duo join the previously confirmed Ian James at the wheel of the team’s Bronze class Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge on Feb. 15.
It will mark the team’s third Bathurst appearance, again in partnership with the German SPS squad.
Both drivers compete for Heart of Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with De Angelis in the team’s GTP class Aston Martin Valkyrie and Barrichello, the son of ex-Formula 1 star Rubens, in the team’s GTD class Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo entry.
“It’s great to be returning to Bathurst after six years away from the event,” said De Angelis, who is set for his second Bathurst start.
“I’ve hoped to get the chance to race here again every year since, as it’s one of the best events and tracks in the world, in my opinion.
“I’m super grateful to get the chance to be back with The Heart of Racing. I think teaming up with Dudu and Ian will hopefully yield a strong result in the Bronze class.”
Barrichello, who is set for his Bathurst debut, added: “I’m super happy to have the opportunity to be at Bathurst this year.
“It’s even better to be with such a great lineup, and also great friends. I’ve always wanted to have a go at it, and I’m super thankful to finally be able to.
“I’ve never been to Australia either, so that’ll be just as cool! Can’t wait to share the car for the first time with both Roman and Ian.”
