HubAuto Racing has announced it will take part in next month’s Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, ending a four-year absence from the Australian event.

The Taiwanese outfit will line up with a Porsche 911 GT3 R for the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener on Feb. 16-18, having used a Ferrari 488 GT3 for its previous visits to Mount Panorama in 2019 and 2020. Drivers have yet to be announced.

HubAuto has a strong connection to Australia thanks to technical director Phillip Di Fazio, with the team having also run a number of Australian drivers over the years.

It also won the Asian Le Mans Series title following the championship’s first and so far only visit to The Bend Motorsport Park in January 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Clinching the 2019-2020 Asian Le Mans Series title strengthened our connection with our Australian fan base, who hold a special place in our hearts,” said team boss Morris Chen. “Our Australian fans are our second-largest supporter base, beyond Taiwan.

“Australia has been a tremendous source of fan support, and we are eager to return to Bathurst – a circuit known for its unforgiving challenges and create new memorable moments for both our local and international fans.”

HubAuto finished 18th overall on its first visit to Bathurst in 2019 following an early incident, while it was forced to withdraw from the 2020 event following a crash in practice.
