Frederik Schandorff and Maximilian Paul will make their first Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe appearances of the season, joining a 49-car grid for the fourth round at the Nürburgring.

After forming part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans support bill last month, the Italian brand’s European single make championship will feature as part of the package for the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

Largim Ali and Oliver Soederstroem emerged from Le Mans, where the series celebrated its 200th race start, with a narrow Pro-class championship lead of 1,5 points over BDR Competition by Grupo Prom’s Amaury Bonduel.

New to the Pro class at the Nürburgring is DTM regular Paul, who makes his series debut sharing a GG Magic Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 with Giuseppe Guirreri.

Also new to the series is Micah Stanley, who joins Super Trofeo after previously competing in GT4 and Porsche Cup machinery. He drives alongside Le Mans race winner Mattia Michelotto at Vincenzo Sospiri Racing.

Oregon Team’s No. 14 Lamborghini has moved up to Pro as a result of the return of 2021 series champion Kevin Gilardoni, who joins Oregon Team to stand in for the injured Davide Roda and partners up with Pietro Perolini.

In the Pro-Am category, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship regular Schandorff will reunite with Alex Au to rekindle the partnership that won the class title in last year’s Lamborghini World Finals.

Stefan Rosina and Bronislav Formanek lead the Pro-Am standings but are just 2,5 points clear of Boutsen VDS pairing Roee Meyuhas and Renaud Kuppens, while Piergiacomo Randazzo and Stephane Tribaudini defend their points lead in the Am category.

In LB Cup, meanwhile, Paolo Biglieri and Petar Matic climbed to the top of the standings after a second consecutive victory but will have to contend with the new Iron Lynx pairing of Charlie Martin and John Seale after Martin made the switch from Brutal Fish Racing Team.

Super Trofeo contenders will have a pair of one-hour practice sessions on Friday to prepare for the weekend, with qualifying and the opening 50-minute race taking place on Saturday. The weekend then concludes with the second and final race on Sunday.
