A second meeting at Vallelunga in November will replace the canceled Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe round at Imola that was due to take place this weekend.
Super Trofeo initially planned to open its season on the European Le Mans Series undercard at Imola, but it became a casualty of the event being called off due to delayed upgrade works.
ELMS promoter Le Mans Endurance Management replaced the 4 Hours of Imola with a double-header weekend at Portimao in October, while Lamborghini has done something similar to keep its European schedule at six rounds.
A statement from the manufacturer said that its Squadra Corse motorsport department had been “working tirelessly to find an alternative meeting to fill the gap.”
The Vallelunga circuit near Rome will host an extra round on Nov. 12-13, a few days before the European season finale at the same venue on Nov. 15-17.
Teams will then stay on for the Grand Finals event on the Nov. 18-19 weekend, which brings together competitors from the different regional Super Trofeo championships.
Like the Grand Finals, the additional Vallelunga round will also be a standalone event organized by Lamborghini.
The first four rounds of the European season at Paul Ricard, Spa, Nürburgring and Valencia are on the support bill for Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.
