Super Trofeo Europe Opener On ELMS Support Package

Lamborghini has released the schedule for the 2023 Super Trofeo Europe season, noticeably moving away from its status as an exclusive support series at SRO events by linking up with the European Le Mans Series and announcing Autodromo Vallelunga in Italy as the host venue for the 2023 Lamborghini Grand Finals.

For its season-opening race for the six-race venue at Imola on May 5-7, Lamborghini’s single-make series will join the support package for the second round of the ELMS season.

This is a notable departure for the series, as it had previously exclusively appeared on the bill for Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS events.

The remainder of the schedule will still see the series link up with GTWC Europe, joining the Endurance Cup round at Circuit Paul Ricard in June before featuring on the support bill for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in the first weekend of July.

Round four takes place in Valencia, while the venue and date for the fifth round in October remains yet to be confirmed.

The season is capped off with the traditional Grand Finals event, which takes place at Vallelunga. The venue, situated 20 miles north of Rome, will host Lamborghini’s end-of-year event for the second time. It previously acted as the host venue for the event in 2018.

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini’s head of motorsport, had previously expressed a hope of returning the event to an overseas venue for next year, but that has not materialized.

The Vallelunga event will be the first Grand Finals to again feature the Super Trofeo Asia series, which comes back next year after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The calendars for the North American and Asian championships were also officially confirmed.

This year’s Grand Finals are set to culminate Sunday with champions in all four classes still to be crowned.
