David Askew was quickest of the Bronze-rated drivers that took to the track Thursday in the opening session of the weekend for the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
The DXDT Racing owner/driver recorded a best lap of 1:25.673 in his No. 63 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, edging out the No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Fred Poordad by 0.382 seconds.
The 30-minute session featured a total of six of the 22 cars entered for the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli/GT World Challenge America powered by AWS round turn laps.
Kenny Habul in the No. 75 SunEnergy Racing Mercedes Evo was third quickest, followed by the No. 1 Squadra Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 of Mark Issa in fourth.
The No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 of James Sofronas was the only GT4-spec car to turn laps in the session, slotting fifth overall.
All IGTC/GTWC America teams will take to the 2.4-mile road course for the start of official on-track action on Friday with a test session followed by Free Practice.
