BMW M Motorsport factory driver Neil Verhagen will step into the No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 for this weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS round at Virginia International Raceway, with John Edwards scaling back his full-time driving commitments.

Verhagen, a former BMW Junior Team driver, will team up with Samantha Tan in the Pro-Am class entry this weekend.

Edwards, meanwhile, has elected to reduce his racing schedule because of family commitments.

“I am re-focusing on my family and am switching gears professionally as Serena and I get ready for the birth of our first child in August,” he said.

“Thanks to Neil for helping at VIR. I look forward to competing in the remaining endurance races.”

No word has been given on Tan’s co-driver for the remaining GTWC America sprint races at Road America and Sebring International Raceway, with Edwards expected to be back in the car for the season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour powered by AWS.
