The fourth season of Toyota GR Cup North America will kick off this weekend as part of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, with a total of 27 cars on the entry list for the SRO America-run single-make series.
The inaugural event, featuring the NTT IndyCar Series, will utilize a 2.73-mile temporary circuit around the AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, homes to the NFL Dallas Cowboys and MLB Texas Rangers, respectively.
It will mark only the second time the GR86 Cup cars will race on a temporary circuit in the U.S. following its outing on the streets of Nashville, also supporting IndyCar, in 2023.
Arlington, part of the Dallas-Fort-Worth metroplex, is only 38 miles southwest of Plano, Tex., the headquarters of Toyota Motor North America.
While 2025 champion Westin Workman and runner-up Jaxon Bell, along with Ford Koch, have graduated to GT4 competition with the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 in Pirelli GT4 America and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition, respectively, a number of new and returning contenders will be vying for the championship glory this year.
It includes Spike Kohlbecker, who has made a comeback to TechSport Racing as part of a three-car effort that also includes Parker DeLong and Malbec Ramos.
Kohlbecker, who finished third in the championship last year, earned two wins with RVA Graphics Motorsports by Speed Syndicate, with the team continuing its campaign with title contender Will Robusto as well as Max Schweid, who joins from TechSport.
BSI Racing, which took Workman to the 2025 championship, will start the season with a five-car effort featuring Ethan Goulart, Massimo Sunseri, Amilio DiLauro, Ryan Power and Alcyr Araujo.
Five cars will also be fielded by Copeland Motorsports, with Beltre Curtis returning alongside Jeremy Fletcher and Jenson Sofronas, alongside newcomers Nathan Dupuis, Paityn Feyen, the latter who moves over from Nitro Motorsports.
Eagles Canyon w/Fast Track will again have a multi-car effort with drivers Joseph Maley, Michael Edwards, Ava Schletz, Carter Wilson and Patrick Brunson.
An additional three entries will be under the Dream Machine @ Eagles Canyon banner for Jason Kos, Jeff Curry and Paul Wilson, who are all entered in the WWEX Legend’s Cup class.
Former PT Autosport Aspiring Driver Shootout winner Zach Hollingshead will race for his own team, Hollingshead Performance, while veteran SRO America outfit Blackdog Racing expands to GR Cup with an entry for Liam Harrison.
Maite Caceres will make her GR Cup debut in a RAFA Racing Team-entered Toyota, while Jay Thomas is the only returning driver for Nitro Motorsports, with brothers Jackson and Ethan Tovo no longer on the grid
Track action kicks off on Friday with a pair of practice sessions and Qualifying 1 in the late afternoon, with the opening race of the season set for Saturday at 11:20 a.m. CST and Race 2 on Sunday at 8 a.m.
Both races will be streamed on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel as well as on GRCup.com.
