Adam Adelson admitted he’s “still buzzing” from the “amazing” debut weekend in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS at Sonoma Raceway that was highlighted by a Pro-Am class win and an additional podium finish.

Adelson and co-driver Elliott Skeer head into this weekend’s third and fourth rounds of the season at NOLA Motorsports Park second in the championship standings in their No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, just three points behind leaders Colin Braun and George Kurtz.

Sonoma marked Adelson’s GT3 debut in Wright’s Type-991.2 Porsche, which showed almost superior pace compared to the new-for-2023 Type-992 models in the GTWC America field.

In addition to his GTWC America outing, the Bronze-rated driver also took part in GT America powered by AWS competition, where he swept both poles and finished second in Race 1.

“I’m still buzzing from how amazing of a first outing Sonoma was for us,” he said. “We’re meshing with the team better than I anticipated, and even though we’ve only been together for one race, it feels like we’re already in a groove.

“Elliott and I had tremendous success at NOLA Motorsports Park in Pirelli GT4 America last year, which gives us (at least me) a natural affinity towards this track.

“It’ll be quite different racing a GT3 R around here, but I’m excited to see what we can achieve this weekend.”

Adelson and Skeer return to the site of their first wins as co-drivers in GT4 America last year, which saw a sweep of the weekend in their Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport that helped propel the duo to a second place finish in the season-long Pro-Am championship.

Having made the step up to GT3 competition this year, the duo will be looking for continued success but in the still-new surroundings.

“NOLA has always been a very good place for me personally as it not only brought me my first win in a Porsche, but also my first win with Wright Motorsports,” said Skeer, who previously contested Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama with the Ohio-based team.

“Keeping the momentum of Sonoma has helped with having a very productive test, so I am confident that Adam and I will be able to maximize the strong package that Wright Motorsports will without a doubt be supplying.

“We are going into the weekend with our focus on operations and execution and let the results follow.”
