DIME Racing will skip this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge SprintX round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park but is set to return as an expanded two-car operation beginning with the Lime Rock event, the team has revealed.
The California-based squad has acquired a Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo to join its Lamborghini Huracan GT3, which debuted at Long Beach last month with Jonathan Summerton.
Summerton teamed with James Davison in the GT3 contender in the SprintX season-opener at Virginia International Raceway, missing out on an overall podium finish in Race 1 after a late-race incident.
Team director Rod Shegem told Sportscar365 that Summerton is confirmed for the remainder of the Sprint season, with drivers being finalized for the SprintX rounds. Shegem said the team plans to go testing prior to the Lime Rock event.
DIME’s newly acquired Super Trofeo car will compete in the GT Cup class, for single-make Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini entries.
The Lime Rock round, scheduled for May 26-27, is set to feature a maximum capacity grid, due to space constraints. A total of 32 cars on the provisional entry list for CTMP.
